Ruler Of Books Tag

Ruler Of Books

While catching up on the BookTube videos, I came across a book tag created (I think) by Ariel Bissett, which you can check out here.
I thought, why not, let me see if I can give this a shot. So here goes.

1. What book would you make everyone read?
I would make everyone read the King Arthur trilogy by M.K. Hume.
An amazing story by an amazing author. Everyone should read her books.

2. What would you abolish in book construction?
50 Shades of Grey….innocent trees were killed in the making of this abomination.

3. What author would you commission to write you any book?
At first I was going to say George R.R. Martin because he is an amazing author, but then I realized he would kill every character. So maybe Robin Hobb or Tamora Pierce. Both great fantasy authors and women.

Robin Hobb                                               Tamora Pierce

4. What book wold you demote to the library basement to make room for new books?
The Twilight Saga, to the dungeons you go.

5. What cover artist would you commission to make a mural?
Sophie Griotto. She has done covers for Katie Fforde and they are beautiful.

6. What characters’ face would you put on a coin?
I would put Robb Starks’ face on a coin. No explanation needed.

7. What book would you award the “Ruler of Books” 2016 Prize to?
Illuminae by Amie Kaufman and Jay Kristoff.

Such an incredible book, cannot wait for book two to be released later on this year.

Tea Tuesday ~ Lazy Blogger

Lazy Blogger

Thanks to TV, reading, studying, children and everyday life; I’ve been one lazy blogger.

When I started this new blog page I wanted to post a blog every day. I was going pretty good, yes I would miss a day or two, but overall I was doing a pretty good job. Until I thought it was a great idea to do a lot of things at once.

I get this thing in my head where if I want to do something I don’t wait until I’m free, I do it straight away. I think it’s such a great idea (usually it is) and I don’t want to wait. I’m an impatient person, waiting is not my strong point.

Anyway, what I’m really trying to say is, even though I’ve been lazy with blog posting recently, it will stop. I’m going to plan more, in advance. The only way I can accomplish posting daily is by being more organised.

Let’s see how long that lasts….

July Book Of The Month Review ~ The Martian by Andy Weir

 Read More Sleep Less

July

Book Of The Month

 Goodreads

I’m stranded on Mars.

I have no way to communicate with Earth.

I’m in a Habitat designed to last 31 days.

If the Oxygenator breaks down, I’ll suffocate. If the Water Reclaimer breaks down, I’ll die of thirst. If the Hab breaches, I’ll just kind of explode. If none of those things happen, I’ll eventually run out of food and starve to death.

So yeah. I’m screwed.

I loved this book, and even though it was a bit slow to begin with (probably due to my readers funk I’m in at the moment), but once I was firmly in the book, I couldn’t put it down.

There were a few things I didn’t understand, I’m not a scientist, but the good thing is that it wasn’t completely confusing. I think Andy made it so the dumbest (me) could understand what was going on.

Mark Watney is a great character, he’s funny, smart, and head strong, basically someone who is fit to be abandon on Mars. If that was me, I don’t think I’ll last a day. Then again, I wouldn’t be selected to go to Mars in the first place.
Even during the most difficult times he still cracks witty remarks, I was laughing out loud during a few of them.

I cannot wait to see the movie adaptation. I’ve heard great things; it will be amazing to see how they adapted this. I also can’t wait to see Matt Damon portray Mark Watney.

My star rating for The Martian by Andy Weir is:

Tea Tuesday ~ Learning About Mary Queen of Scots

Learning About
Mary Queen of Scots

I love learning new things, which is odd cause I hated to learn things when I was at school. I think it’s because I’m learning on my own time, and learning things I want to learn.
(Just realised I said learn a lot).

At the moment I decided to learn everything there is to know about Mary Queen of Scots. It’s really hard to explain why I want to without sounding odd, I’m learning about her because I want to.
Maybe I might right a fiction novel about her, but in the meantime I’m learning everything that I can possibly know.

She’s a very interesting character; her father, James V of Scotland, dies six days after her birth, being the only legitimate child, she claims the throne of Scotland.
With the English after her throne and enemies galore, she flees to France for safety and her future marriage to Francis, Dauphin of France.

I’ll update you on my progress. Hopefully I’ll be an expert on everything Mary Queen of Scots.
