Book Review 📖 Malice by John Gwynne

Book One
The Faithful and the Fallen

This is actually the second time I'm reading this series, and even though I know what's going to happen, I was still on the edge of my seat.
I just love this world that John Gwynne has created, with characters that fascinate me whether they are evil or good.

Even though I want to talk about everything that has happened, I really don't want to give anything away. Go in this blind and you will thank me later. This is epic fantasy at it's best.

I do, however, want to gush about my favourite character; Cywen. You will be hearing from reviews for the following books to come, that Cywen is my absolute favourite. Her character development is amazing, and to see a strong female character who also has a vulnerable side, is what I look for in characters I read. Of course Corban and Veradis have great character arc, but Cywen will always be the badass.

If you can't tell already, definitely a highly recommend series to read.

My star rating is:

Malice by John Gwynne

My Thoughts

I think I did a pretty good job.

Not sure if it's because the layout of this read-a-thon is different (a website, change of name to feel like everyone was included), or it's making me get out of my book slump, whatever the reason, I really enjoyed myself. In a way, I'm actually sad that it has come to an end.
The only problem now is, I have a few reviews to write up.

I definitely think for the next Reading Rush, and for other read-a-thons to come, I'll be a bit more organised. With updating frequently on my Twitter and Instagram accounts, and planning my times better to read and do other things.

Other than that, I think it was a great read-a-thon and I loved every minute of it.

I still can't believe that I completed all the challenges, except for the bonus one of reading 7 books. For me, especially being in this slump, reading one book is an accomplishment.

Until next time, happy reading

My Thoughts

Today would have to be my successful reading day. Mainly because I read a lot of pages.
My house might be a mess, but does that matter when it comes to reading? No, I answered for you :)

I started and completed A Court of Thorns and Roses which was my goal from yesterday. It's such a good feeling to set a goal for yourself and do it. Even though I read just a few pages of Malice and still haven't finished it. Ugh, I just don't want it to end.

I will be planning on finishing it tomorrow however and start on something new. I'm not sure what yet, but this read-a-thon has gotten me out of my reading slump, so whatever I pick I'll be happy.

After this read-a-thon is over though, I have a few reviews to do. Which always takes me time, trying to put what I feel into words...

Until next time, happy reading

The Reading Rush ~ Day #3

Day #3

Pages Read:
283
Books Read:
Macbeth by William Shakespeare

Total Pages Read:
646
Total Books Read:
Sleeping Murder by Agatha Christie
Macbeth by William Shakespeare

My Thoughts

I don't know why I keep saying I'm going to do updates on my Twitter and Instagram pages when I never do. I just start reading and forget the world around me. I also put my phone in another room so I don't pick it up and end up on YouTube for hours.
Distractions, it's a thing.

Other than that, I think my reading was great today. I read and completed Macbeth by William Shakespeare and I finally watched the film with Michael Fassbender.

I'm still reading Malice by John Gwynne. And even though it's my second time reading this series, I'm still savouring it. I just love his writing style and the characters he has created. I don't want to ever leave.

My predictions for tomorrow are; I won't be updating even though I'm trying to, I will finish Malice and hopefully start and finish another book.
Big goals, but you gotta aim high.

Until next time, happy reading

The Reading Rush ~ Day #2

Day #2

Pages Read:

Books Read:
Sleeping Murder by Agatha Christie

Total Pages Read:

Total Books Read:
Sleeping Murder by Agatha Christie

My Thoughts

You know how I said I was going to update more on my Twitter and Instagram pages?... Well, I kind of did that.
I don't know what it is, I just keep forgetting once I start reading. I switch everything off and get right into the story and what these characters are doing.

Especially if I wanted to finally finish a book (which I did), and get myself some badges.
Talking about badges, there seems to be a problem with the website where it either times me out, or says I'm either typing my comment too quickly or I've typed this comment before. Hopefully it has fixed itself and I can add my two badges; Reading in one spot and purple cover.

Even though it's going to be another busy day today, I'm hoping to finish Malice by John Gwynne and start on a new book. Aim high people.

Until next time, happy reading

My Thoughts

Even though I didn’t read as much as I planned, I did feel like it was a great start.
I’m currently reading Malice by John Gwynne, which will go to the challenge of “author’s debut novel”.

I was so caught up in reading that I forgot to update on Twitter and Instagram (no surprises there). Hopefully day 2 I will not only read more, but keep you guys updated and participate in more twitter sprints.

Until next time, happy reading

The Reading Rush TBR

I’ve done a few read-a-thons in my time, but there has never been one that I have been more excited to do.
The Reading Rush, if you don’t know, is a change of name from BookTube-A-Thon, and I’m so happy they changed the name. Every time the BookTube read-a-thon would come around, because I don’t have a YouTube channel, I always felt like I was left out.
Yes, they say that anyone can join, but I think it was the name that kept throwing people (mainly me) off.

Not only do they have a name change, but also a website where you can join and create your own profile. There are badges you can earn and forums where you can talk to other people.
I think that’s what really sold me, a way to record your reading progress and also meet book lovers around the world.
This read-a-thon starts on 22 July and ends 28 July your time.

If you would like to join, just click here and that will take you to their website.
You can also add me as a friend by clicking the link here.

Just like BookTube-A-Thon, there will be challenges.
They are:
(For more details, click here)
~Side note: The books I've picked isn't set in stone. Knowing myself, I might not stick to these books and either add or change them~

1.  Purple Cover

2.  Same Spot

3.  Last Year Book

4.  Author’s Debut

5.  Non-Human Character

6.  Five Word Title

7.  Book To Movie Adaptation

Film with Michael Fassbender

Throughout the read-a-thon I’ll be posting daily updates on Twitter and Instagram. I hope I can complete all the challenges, but most importantly, have fun.

Until next time, happy reading
