TV Show Review ~ Shadowhunters

Clary Fray has just enrolled at Brooklyn Academy of Arts. On her eighteenth birthday, she learns that she is a Shadowhunter, a human born with angelic blood who protect humans from demons. That night, Clary's mother, Jocelyn Fray, is abducted by a group of rogue Shadowhunters of "The Circle". Their leader is Jocelyn's husband Valentine Morgenstern.
With her mother missing, Clary turns to Luke, a person she trusted, only to seemingly be betrayed. Clary joins up with a band of Shadowhunters to save her mother and discovers powers she never knew she possessed. Clary is thrown into the world of demon hunting with the mysterious, narcissistic, and attractive Shadowhunter, Jace, and also her loyal and geeky friend, Simon. Now living among faeries, warlocks, vampires, and werewolves, Clary begins a journey of self-discovery as she learns more about her past and what her future may hold.

Season One is over…. seriously, where did the time go? It felt like only yesterday it was being announced the Mortal Instrument series by Cassandra Clare is turning into a TV show after the failure of the movie franchise.

At first I had my doubts, I think it’s safe to say whenever a book is turned into a TV show or movie, you’re scared someone will fuck it up (excuse the French). For book lovers who will understand me completely, this is a book that you have fallen in love with, given all your emotions in these characters. You don’t want to see someone screw it up with bad acting, or worse, completely go off the original plot.

The start of the season wasn’t great, there was terrible acting from a few cast members, and there were a few changes, like the institute. That seriously pissed me off actually. There shouldn’t be any technology there.
But I stuck through it, because I love the book series so much, I wanted this to work. And lucky I did, because it ended spectacularly. It got closer to the book plot and Malec. MALEC!!

I’m still not a fan with a few characters, but my favourite ones shone through, and I fell in love with them all over again.

The good news is they will be back with season two. I don’t know how I could handle them not doing another season.
