Movie Review ~ Cinderella (2015)

Yes, it has taken me long enough to finally watch this movie. I'm a huge fan of Disney Princess films, so when I heard they were adapting Cinderella and Richard Madden (who plays Robb Stark in Game of Thrones), was portraying Prince Charming, excitement was an understatement.
There was a number of reasons why I never saw this in cinemas or why I didn't buy the DVD straight away, but I'm not going to go into that. It was actually an email from Netflix telling me they added it. Literally not two seconds after I got the email, I stopped everything I was doing and watched the movie.

I loved it!! It was such a true adaptation of the original story. It wasn't their own "take" on the classic or major plot changes, everything was how it should be. Yes of course there were minor tweaks to it, but overall it was spectacular. It brought a lot of memories back to when I first watched Disney's cartoon version of Cinderella.

The cast were great, of course Richard Madden was amazing, but Lily James did a great portrayal of Cinderella. Especially how she would interact with the animals.
And I can't forget Cate Blanchett, seriously this woman can do anything when it comes to portraying different characters. No surprises as she is an Australian :)

Such a magical romantic movie to watch, I can not wait for my daughter to be older so she would be able to watch it as well.
I find stories like this don't give girls this false take on finding a prince and living happily ever after. For me I think Disney movies, especially this one tells us, especially young girls, that if you are kind to others, people will be kind to you.
Cinderella is the perfect example of this. Well that's my take on it anyway.

My star rating for Cinderella is:

Tea Tuesday ~ Printed Books vs EBooks

This has been the biggest debate since reading books on an electronic device was invented. Do you prefer to read on an ebook or as a printed book?

Now I can see why people would want to compare the two, and why some condone reading on the other format, but when you really think about it, both have pros and cons.
Here are a few that I can think of:

  • Printed books have no battery life. That's right, whenever you want you can read books without having to worry about charging it.

  • EBooks are money savers. It's much cheaper to buy books in an ebook form than printed. And here is the deal breaker; you can get free book!
  • Printed books has a smell. When you open a new or old book, put your face right in there and give one good sniff. It's a book nerds heaven scent. You can't do that with ebooks.
  • Bookshelves. A great place to show off your books when people come around. It's not the same is ebooks.

  • Reading at night. Admit it, you have all done it, or tried to do it. The best way to read a book at night is ebook format. Why you ask, well it has its own inbuilt light. You can adjust the brightness of that light, which means in the end you can read as late as you want. Sleep is overrated.

But in the end does it matter how you prefer to read, the more important thing is that you are reading. I actually read both formats, and that's because of the reasons I gave earlier.
We should never judge people in how they are reading, we should encourage.

I'm sure the next big debate would be printed books vs audio books. But I'm sure I'll say the same thing I keep saying all the time, it doesn't matter how you read, as long as you READ!

NaNoWriMo Update - Day #1 & #2

I happy to say for the first two days of NaNoWriMo have been great. I kind of changed my mind on what I wanted to write, at first it was just a chic lit but then I decided to add a paranormal aspect to it.
My main character finds out she is a witch.

Once I started I couldn't stop. I'm not joking, I had my notebook near me and I was basically writing in there every moment I had a free hand. This was hard considering I have a four year old son and a two month old daughter.
So saying that my word count for the last two days is:

I am shocked that I have written this much. Maybe it's because I love this story that I'm creating. Whatever the reason is, I hope it never stops.
